Broadbanders download more of everything - AMR report According to
AMR, one third of Australians with Broadband download software at
least once a week and one fifth download free music regularly -
twice
that of narrowbanders. The 12 per cent of broadbanders regularly
downloading and streaming video is almost three times that of those
on dial-up
connections. These content markets will continue to expand as
high-speed connectivity ramps up in the consumer space.
Broadband to drive media, entertainment growth
An expected boom in broadband and digital technology would drive
growth in Australia's media and entertainment industry over the next
four years,
PricewaterhouseCoopers reported. In its Australian Entertainment
Media Outlook for 2004-2008, the accountancy house has forecast the
industry to
grow at a 7 per cent compound average growth rate to be worth $25.3
billion
by 2008.
Broadband users have more gadgets -AMR report
AMR reports that Australian households that have broadband are
comparatively more tech-savvy than their dial-up counterparts. They
are more likely to
have digital cameras, CD or DVD burners, laptop computers, home
networks, webcams and portable MP3 players. However, this gap is
paring back as
broadband penetration increases and begins to enter mainstream
households.
When it comes to buying gadgets this year, digital cameras lead,
with around one fifth of connected Australians planning to get one.
Upgrading mobile
phones and television sets are the next most popular items for
purchase, along with CD or DVD burners.

Think your data is
safe?
Approximately one in four computer users have lost important
data due to hackers, viruses, blackouts or electrical
failure.
41 percent of computer users do not personally back up their
data. Nearly half of work computer users personally back up
their data only once a month or less often, or they never
back up their data.
As a result computer users are often completely unprepared
for sudden attacks by hackers, viruses, blackouts and
electrical failure.
Backing up data involves more than saving to your hard drive
or relying on virus protection software. Your data is only
truly protected when you take a copy of it from your
computer and keep it separately.
